sprint 4 - late night at kinko's

i was at work, and it was nearing 6pm. i'd already missed nadine's ashtanga class, but i was still in the running to get my 6:30 bikram on. however, the exhaustive list of materials for tomorrow's image transfer workshop kept haunting me. i was determined to not half-ass this class!
with the exception of a single ink-jet print, i am ready. 5 hours after having decided to skip yoga, i can revel in the 3 manila envelopes filled with thoughtful, interesting images (my house in belle harbor! raymond, asleep on the emery-woolley couch! a sheep! a random piece of hardware that appears to be attacking the sheep! a bowl of red jello! blood-type-themed condoms! barbie-themed spaghetti-os! lollipops with bugs stuck inside!). i do miss yoga, though, so i think from now on i'll incorporate yoga into the definition of done. in other words, i will track exercise as well as craft velocity.
notions and findings: fish taco from azteca -- good! aardvark books -- open 'til 10:30pm! kinko's -- not so annoying after 10pm! color copy machines -- totally rock the house!

sprint 3 - gathering supplies for image transfer class

tonight i sorted through boxes of old photos, looking for images that might look good when repeated on fabric (as a pattern). i also grabbed all the light-colored fabric i could find (including a pillowcase, a lampshade and some fleece) and stuffed it in my black le sportsac bag that's still dusty from burning man.
estimated time: 1 hour
notions and findings: i'm so happy i kept all of those old photos, along with the envelopes and negatives from those places where i used to go to develop rolls of film...

sprint 2 - refashioned black tee shirt

what: boy's black tee shirt (oops!) with super-cheesy pink stitching and a pretty tie-back sash! (i.e., the tee shirt dress i never made in junior high)
craft debt paid: boy's tee shirt! and some pink netting.
time started: 10ish? maybe later. rex was in the other room transferring buttloads of music to my computer. i started by converting a too-small shirt (from nisa) to a too-small skirt, then moved on to a slightly larger specimen. (i used my dress form for the first time. it has an imbalanced hip, so i had to prop it up with a yoga block.)
time completed: 11:30
lessons learned: cutting holes in the sides of too-big tee shirts and then reinforcing those holes with colored stitching is kind of cool.
notions and findings: i will *never* wear this shirt. ok, maybe to yoga. or to work.

sprint 1 - pretty gingham sachet (pillow) case

what: eye pillow / lavender sachet for my mom
fabric: purple gingham, raspberry flower print, purple/green flower print (mmmm, flannel!), green leafy print, pink gingham
notions and findings: pink duct tape, pink ribbon, pink tulle for tag/card thing. i sewed some
green fabric to the pink duct tape, which worked quite well!
time started: 9ish?
time now: 11:47pm
what went wrong: i shouldn't have drunk all that cough medication first.
what went right: sewing the pink 'm' to the green fabric was a nice touch.
craft debt paid: teeny dent made in my fabric stash. tomorrow i'll work bigger!

until i figure out how to get a flickr feed up here, here are pics:
